Last week, Owen Appleton and Mark Ibberson from the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics coordinating the Swiss FEGA project were delighted to attend the 2025 ELIXIR All Hands Meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, where they co-led the workshop entitled "A Community of Practice for FEGA node expansion: Experiences, resources, support and future models".
The aim of this workshop was to reflect with the ELIXIR nodes currently working towards establishing a FEGA node on how to support new nodes in joining the FEGA network.
The workshop was divided into three main sessions, covering the following topics:
- Experiences from recent / in progress FEGA nodes (Canada & Switzerland)
- Prospective and future FEGA node needs and questions (Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Ireland)
- Building a community of practice: Documentation & Guides; Tools & Services; Communication & Harmonisation
The workshop materials will be made available soon on the ELIXIR event webpage.
